DiMA Playlist – April 2022 - National Recording Registry Inductees

Connecting you with the stories and insights shaping the music industry today.

A Message from our CEO

Around this time each spring, we at DiMA get the unique privilege of recognizing music history as it happens. This month, the library of Congress announced the annual selection of recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry, recognizing a group of 25 iconic recordings for their special cultural and historic importance.

One of my great honors is serving on the National Recording Preservation Board that advises on these selections, which reflect the diverse and historic range of recorded music. DiMA is celebrating all of the artists, songwriters and composers of the Class of 2022 with a playlist including timeless classics like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and some of my personal favorites like “Reach Out I’ll Be There” by The Four Tops. And on a non-music note, I was delighted to see Marc Maron’s incredible podcast “WTF with Marc Maron” inducted to the Registry this year.

As we look ahead to next month, DiMA is moving full steam ahead towards Music Biz 2022 in Nashville. I’m particularly looking forward to hosting an in-depth discussion on the shared data challenges facing the music industry and how we can all collaborate on solutions.
