Last week, DIMA’s CEO Graham Davies and SVP of Government & External Affairs Sally Rose Larson travelled to Mexico City for a series of high-level meetings with policymakers, government officials, and key stakeholders across the country’s dynamic music ecosystem. The visit marked an important milestone in DIMA’s ongoing work to build global partnerships and advocate for a sustainable, innovative digital music market that benefits artists, rights holders, fans, and the broader cultural economy.
During their time in Mexico, they met with prominent policymakers including Senator Beatriz Mojica Morga, Senator Eruviel Ávila, Senator Rolando Zapato Bello, Mtra. Karina Luján Luján, Director General of INDAUTOR, and Kenia López Rabadán, President of the Chamber of Deputies, among many others. These conversations provided an invaluable opportunity to introduce DIMA’s mission to the Mexican market and to discuss how the global streaming ecosystem supports the country’s vibrant music culture.

Mexico is one of the fastest-growing music markets in the world. Streaming plays a particularly central role, helping fans discover and enjoy music on a massive scale, while empowering artists to reach new audiences both at home and internationally. As the landscape continues to evolve, ensuring a healthy, innovative, and sustainable digital music environment will be critical to unlocking even more creative and economic potential.
Throughout the visit, discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges ahead – from the importance of certainty in legal and regulatory frameworks to supporting pro-innovation policies and empowering local talent. Across all meetings, there was clear alignment on the importance of collaboration between industry and policymakers to foster continued innovation and growth.

“We were encouraged by the open, constructive, and forward-looking dialogue throughout our visit,” said DIMA CEO Graham Davies. “It’s evident that there is strong shared commitment to ensuring that Mexico’s music sector continues to thrive in the digital era – for creators, for fans, and for the economy as a whole.”
DIMA extends its sincere thanks to all the organizations and individuals who welcomed us and engaged in these important conversations. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with Mexico’s music community and continuing to work together to grow the success of music in Mexico.
