1. Now Playing: DIMA Launches Campaign to Scrap Canada’s Streaming Tax
This month, DIMA President and CEO, Graham Davies, spoke with The Hub about the rise and evolution of music streaming, its benefits for Canadian artists and consumers, and the risk that the Online Streaming Act poses to both of them.
The Online Streaming Act imposes a new levy on music streaming services that ignores the significant contributions that services already make to the Canadian music industry and culture, and requires streaming services to subsidize unrelated industries.

DIMA President and CEO, Graham Davies, joined Patrick Rogers, CEO of Music Canada, and Alexandre Lasch, Secretary General of SNEP, for a conversation as part of Music Biz’s Passport Series. The discussion centered around international developments in music streaming, the importance of streaming to a well-functioning and strong music industry, and the implications of efforts by certain countries to regulate streaming services and what it all means for the music industry. 3. Spotlight: Spotlight: DIMA End of Year Events
Last week, DIMA held its annual Winter Members Meeting, as well as educational events and networking opportunities for member companies with policymakers, Congressional staff, and music industry stakeholders.
Some of the highlights from the Winter Meeting include a meeting with Judiciary IP Subcommittee Ranking Member Hank Johnson (D-GA), taking a private tour of the U.S. Capitol, and meeting with the U.S. Copyright Office. During these meetings, DIMA members discussed a wide range of issues, including ongoing work around AI, the importance of an efficient, transparent, and well-functioning licensing system, and more.
In addition to the meetings, DIMA celebrated the holidays with a lively cocktail reception attended by DIMA member company executives, policymakers, government officials, and key music industry stakeholders and partners, followed by a DIMA members-only dinner.

4. In Action: Kogod School of Business Hosts 4th Annual Artists’ Rights Symposium
DIMA’s President and CEO, Graham Davies, had the opportunity to participate in the 4th annual Artists’ Rights Symposium at American University’s Kogod School of Business.
