DIMA President & CEO Releases Statement in Support of Strengthening Canada-U.S. Digital Trade Relations
WASHINGTON, February 7, 2025 – Today, Graham Davies, President and CEO of the Digital Media Association (DIMA), released the following statement in support of strengthening Canada-U.S. digital trade relations.
“Earlier this week we were encouraged to hear the Canadian Minister of International Trade express openness to addressing digital trade irritants. This needs to include the harmful Online Streaming Act—a policy that hurts Canadian artists, burdens consumers, jeopardizes investments in Canadian culture, and strains Canada-U.S. relations.
The Minister’s comments come at a critical time, as the U.S. Trade Representative has made clear that the Trump administration will closely review and respond to foreign digital trade barriers. Given the importance of Canada-U.S. trade relations, we urge the Canadian government to reconsider this policy before it escalates into a broader trade dispute.
DIMA remains committed to advocating for a fair and sustainable digital marketplace that supports Canadian artists and consumers while preserving Canada’s vital trade relationship with the United States.”
