Towards a New National Cultural Policy: Public Consultation (2026)

These comments are submitted on behalf of the Digital Media Association (DIMA), the trade association that represents the world’s leading audio streaming companies. DIMA’s members, which include Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube, make it possible for music fans to legally engage with music whenever and wherever they want, and for artists to reach and grow their fan base more easily than ever before.
We applaud the Australian Government for seeking input from across the spectrum of stakeholders as it develops a new National Cultural Policy. Music streaming has revolutionized the global music industry, including the market in Australia, in a way that has extraordinary benefits for music fans, music creators, and a variety of other participants in the music economy. As a result, we believe our members’ perspective is vital and welcome this opportunity to be a part of the dialogue.
