DiMA Playlist - Black History Month 2022

Connecting you with the stories and insights shaping the music industry today.

A Message from our CEO

It’s February and we’re looking back on a bustling month for streaming. After a historic halftime performance at SuperBowl LVI, songs performed by hip-hop and R&B legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak generated 18.64 million on-demand official streams, a 121% increase from the two-day period before the show.

This month we are celebrating Black History Month, memorializing the foundational contributions made by Black artists to music and culture. Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon and YouTube have launched libraries of curated content, community initiatives and specialty events to highlight and support Black artists. Be sure to check out our Twitter and DiMA’s homepage to catch it all, including a special playlist curated by DiMA featuring songs from important moments in Black Music History. Whether it’s the sounds of this year’s Halftime Show or one of my absolute favorite recent artists, Joy Oladokun, don’t miss the chance this month to plug in and appreciate trailblazing Black artists and the next generation.
