DiMA Honors This Year’s National Recording Registry Inductees

Washington, D.C. (April 12, 2023) – Digital Media Association (DiMA) President and CEO Garrett Levin today released the following statement congratulating the 2023 Inductees into the National Recording Registry:

“DiMA and its member companies congratulate the artists, songwriters, and composers of the Class of 2023 Inductees into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Each year, the National Recording Registry honors those creators and their works that have helped to shape the nation’s musical legacy. This year’s class of inductees reflects unique and historic recorded music, including “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee, “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey, “Super Mario Bros. Theme” by Koji Kondo and albums Like A Virgin by Madonna, All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah, Déjà vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Very First Mariachi Recordings by Cuarteto Coculense. These recordings bring a depth of cultural and historic significance to the already treasured collection preserved by the National Recording Registry. We applaud their selection and congratulate each inductee on this unique recognition. We also encourage all music fans to explore the variety of this year’s Inductee Class on their favorite streaming service.”

As a member of the National Recording Preservation Board, DiMA is proud to provide a playlist of the music inducted in the Class of 2023 available on each DiMA member’s service. As part of celebrating this year’s inductees, Levin today posted a blog on how streaming services promote discovery and rediscovery of classic music including this year’s inductees.
